Months are given in the purnimanta convention, the one Hemachandra uses. For a Krishna-paksha date the Gujarati amanta name is one month earlier; Shukla dates are the same in both.
All five of his kalyanakas fall in Chitra. The first four sharing one nakshatra is true of every Tirthankara without exception; about ten then shift for the nirvana, and he is not among them. See the kalyanaka calendar.
The Most Technical Astronomical Line in the Corpus
Padmaprabha’s page matters to an astrology site for one sentence. At his birth, Hemachandra writes that the planets went to exaltation “by retrograde and accelerating motions.”
That phrase names vakra (retrogression) and atichara (accelerated motion), genuine technical concepts of Indian astronomy. It is the single most precise astronomical statement we found anywhere in the 24 biographies, and it settles an argument: the authors of these texts had the vocabulary to record planetary positions and chose not to. Across all 24 Tirthankaras they record the moon’s nakshatra, and nothing else.
That is why no honest Tirthankara horoscope can exist, and why the one circulating for Mahavira cannot be real.
His nirvana is recorded with 803 monks, not the round thousand that appears for most others.
